In each story of defeating any obstacle, the primary focus is drive and determination. While any accomplishment is demanding in its own way, willpower should never be understated. When you approach any individual, who has achieved success, they will confide in you that they were not brought into this world with determination. They just discovered how to harness its power to achieve their goals. Here are three distinct approaches to remain determined and focused:
Set up your day the night before.
Before you go to sleep, make some basic decisions about what you will do tomorrow, such as what you will wear, what you will eat for lunch, and the route you will take to work. It is easier to pack a healthy lunch the night before than to decide what you are going to have with a hot dog vendor parked in front of your workplace. Getting into the habit of planning your day will remove your easiest decisions from the table, making it easier to avoid getting sidetracked and wasting time and energy.
Do the most difficult tasks first.
The most difficult duties will not get easier the more we fret about them or put them off. We will only waste energy that would be better spent by just digging in. Approach the hardest job of your day right away, while you are still fresh and have the energy. Research has shown that our minds are sharpest in the morning, which is why we should use the mornings to tackle our toughest jobs. After these are out of the way, we can relax and take care of the more routine work that doesn’t require much mental strain, ability, and energy.
Eliminate distractions and time-wasters.
In life, emergencies are guaranteed and will certainly cause disruption to your normal routine. However, the majority of situations that distract us are not emergencies and do not require us to respond right away. Choose to stay mindful of where you place your energy. By not responding to every small inconvenience that comes your way, you can avoid such distractions and take advantage of the peace of mind that uninterrupted work brings.
